20 Facts About Me!

I’ve been doing my blog for about 6 weeks now and I love it. But today, I wanted to give you guys a chance to get to know me a bit better. So, without further ado, here are 20 Facts about me 🙂

1. I am absolutely terrified of injections and needles. I’ve passed out twice just from people talking about them. The first time I was visiting my cousin in hospital and she was talking about getting the drip (IV) and I just fainted. The second time was in my maths class in year 10 and a girl I was sitting with was talking about getting the rod put in her arm and I woke up on the floor with my maths teacher calling an ambulance. Oops.

2. I am obsessed with The Hunger Games. I’ve read the trilogy 5 times so far and i think I’ve seen the first two movies at least 20 times each now.

3. I have a wall in my room reserved for photos of my friends and I. Every now and then I’ll go and get photos developed and I’ll stick them up on my wall.

4. In June/July this year I spent 12 days over in a little country called Timor-Leste teaching English at my school’s sister school called Santa Maria.

5. I’m doing year 12 in 2015 and I’m studying Art, Legal Studies, Psychology, Renaissance History, English and RE.

6. After year 12 I hope to work for a year and save and then spend a year living in the UK with two of my best friends.

7. I’m still good friends with my best friend from kindergarten. We got back in touch last year and it’s been really cool catching up.

8. I love sewing and I’ve made at least 8 pencil cases for myself and friends at school over the last two years.

9. I’m the only one out of my siblings to stay at the same school for the whole duration of Primary School.

10. I got two guinea pigs, Prim and Autumn, for my 17th birthday in October and after 6 days of having them, Prim had a baby. She’s named Mellie.

11. I have a bow and arrow set that is replicated from the bow and arrows Katniss has in the arena in The Hunger Games.

12. I got a job on the 10th of March, 2013, and 15 days later my boyfriend broke up with me.

13. I have a massive celebrity crush on Josh Hutcherson. Like, huge.

14. I had a chook when I was little that I named Chook Chook. I know, pretty original right?

15. I was one of the school captains in my Primary School and now I’m a House Captain in High School.

16. I’ve broken both of my wrists, my right one when I was 5 and my left one when I was 10.

17. When I was 4, I decided to give myself a hair cut. It didn’t end well. I had a horrible bob for a year.

18. The tag of my towel always has to be at the bottom right hand side of the towel after I get out of the shower. I don’t know why, but it does.

19. When I got my ears pierced when I was 5, they did them one at a time. After the first one my mum had to bribe me with a barbie doll and multiple lollipops to make me get the second one done. The woman did them uneven too. The hole in my right ear is much lower than my left.

20. I have patellar tracking dysfunction which means my knee cap sits slightly out of place which makes it really uncomfortable to do a lot of things. I have to tape my knee and go to physiotherapy to try and fix it but so far, no luck.

The song for this post is ‘A Thousand Years’ by Christina Perri. This is a really wonderful song that I really enjoy, I hope you do too!

What I Got For Christmas!

Hello Everybody! It’s been a while!

Today I’m doing a post about what I was fortunate enough to get this year for Christmas! The first thing I opened was The Hunger Games Trilogy. I already have the set from my 15th birthday but these ones are a special ‘Capitol’ edition so my parents, being the lovely people they are,  bought it for me!

I’ve read The Hunger Games trilogy 5 times now but I’m about to make it 6 after I finish reading the Percy Jackson series. I really love these books and they’re exactly what I wanted as a massive Hunger Games fan.

The next thing I opened was Divergent on DVD! I was so excited to get this because I’ve read the books and I saw the movie at the cinema when it first came out. I’ve been hanging out for the DVD and finally here it is!

It’s such an amazing book to film transition which I think was approached in a really good way. I was so happy to get this!

The third thing I unwrapped was a set of 5 pastel nail polishes. I LOVE PASTELS! I don’t have a favourite colour but I love all pastels! Needless to say I painted my nails Christmas day!

And last but certainly not least, I opened a box to see The Sims 4! I’ve been so excited to try this game out because I love The Sims 3 and the character development looks and is amazing. I spent an hour just fiddling around with the facial and bodily features of my sims and loved every second of it!

However, I did find build and buy mode a lot more confusing but I’m getting used to it! Definitely a game to give a try!

The song for this post is ‘Fix a Heart’ by Demi Lovato. It’s such an amazing song and when you listen to the lyrics, it’s quite powerful as well. Enjoy!

That’s all for today folks! I hope you all had a lovely break and got heaps of great gifts! Merry Christmas! 🙂 x

Happy Holidays Everybody!

I hope everyone is having a safe and happy holiday so far. I just wanted to post this fan edit (don’t know who made it so I can’t credit) to remind everyone how close Christmas is!

Have you all got your Christmas shopping done?

Have a very Merry Christmas everyone and keep a lookout for my December Favourites coming soon…

Byyyyye! 🙂 x

I Finally Set Up The Christmas Tree!

I finally did it! Yaaaaaaay! Here’s some pics for you 🙂

The theme is obviously pink, purple, blue and silver on a white christmas tree!

I hope you’re all enjoying the lead up to christmas!

Today’s song is called “Heart By Heart” by Demi Lovato. This song is on ‘The Mortal Instruments’ soundtrack which is one of my favourite movies and book series. This song is really quite beautiful and the lyrics are so meaningful. Enjoy!

Unfortunately this version is more high pitched than the real deal but you get the idea. Have a lovely night everybody! 🙂 x

I Got My Further Maths Results!

This year I completed year 11. I chose to do Unit 3/4 General Maths instead of year 11 general maths so that I wouldn’t have to do it next year in year 12. And today I got my results.

I’m quite happy with them and I think that for a year of work, this is a result I can happily live with.

For those of you not from Australia, the way it works is that you do SACs (School Assessed Criteria) throughout the year which vary in how much they contribute to your overall score (Study score) in each subject. For example, I know for year 12 art, we do two SACs and each of them ar 10% of my final mark. 30% of my final mark is my folio and 50% is my exam. (It might be the other way around, i can’t remember now).

So anyway, your study score is a ranking of you against every other person doing that subject in Australia and it’s out of 50. If you get over 45 for your study score, it means two things. A. You’re a bloody genius and B. You’re in the top 2% for Australia. If you get over 30 you’re in the top 53%, over 20 you’re in the top 93%.

So what’s my score? 29! Yay!

To some people that may not be great but hey, I never have to do maths again in school! So because my study score is over 25, I’m in the top 78% of Australia so it’s not too bad. Ideally if I had have gotten 1 more point i would’ve been in the top 53% but oh well.

I did my best and that’s all that matters! I hope everyone else today is happy with their results and if not, it’s not the end of the world! There are always ways to chase your dream so don’t let a number stop you.

The song for today’s post is Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud” as performed at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. I really loved this performance and so I thought I’d share it with you guys today! Here it is:

Have a fabulous day guys! 🙂 x

Hate On Youtubers and Bloggers Is Getting Ridiculous

Today I wanted to talk about all the hate that’s buzzing around youtubers at the moment, in particular, Zoella (Zoe Sugg).

On the 25th of November, Zoe released her first ever novel ‘Girl Online’. There’s been speculation about whether or not she actually wrote the novel and now there are accusations that she did not. It’s also been revealed that she had help from someone who she acknowledged on the back of her book. This “help” is known as ghostwriting and is extremely common, particularly for entertainers such as Zoella.

I personally think this entire situation is ridiculous. First of all, this was Zoe’s FIRST book. Of course she’s going to need help! Who wouldn’t? Second of all, ghostwriting happens everyday, in every city in every country. So why is the media only going silly about this one case? There are plenty of singers, bands and actors who have also written a book and have had other people write it. But Zoe didn’t just sit back and let someone else do the work. Throughout her vlogs you can see her working hard and we know as viewers that she has such a busy schedule which includes writing a book.

Zoella posted on twitter a few days ago explaining how she would be taking a break from the Internet for a few days and she thanked her fans and supporters for understanding. This is so disappointing to see that she and her boyfriend Alfie Deyes (Pointless blog) have been pushed to the point of leaving the internet for a few days just to get away from all the negativity. Zoe suffers from anxiety and now she has to deal with this. If you don’t like her then don’t watch her videos, don’t read her blog and don’t read her book. It’s simple.

Zoella is a personal inspiration of mine and it saddens me deeply that people would go out of their way to pull someone down. I started blogging because of Zoella and if I ever get the chance to meet her, I’ll tell her how much she’s helped me find my path in life and inspired me to chase my dream of being a designer. She’s given me the confidence to write about my life and my favourite things about being alive in this world.

So please go easy on Zoella who is just living her life and support her. Here’s a link to her youtube channel and her blog. Go check her out!

I also wanted to thank Paul Militaru for following my blog and taking the time to read my posts. You have no idea how much it has meant to me.

On a brighter note, the song for this post is “Yellow Flicker Beat” by ‘Lorde’. This song is included in the Mockingjay Part 1 soundtrack so naturally, I just love it.

Thanks for reading my post today and i hope you’re all having a brilliant day 🙂 x

Shopping haul!

Today I went shopping for Christmas presents so i thought I’d share what I bought for myself today with you guys!

First of all I bought a necklace with matching earrings and another pair of earrings from ‘Lovisa’. The matching set are orange flowers with gold as shown below!

The necklace was on sale for $5 and the earrings were $3 ( TOTAL BARGAIN!). I also bought a pair of English flag earrings for $3 too! I love them!

Next, I got a new make up storage bag from ‘Big W’. It’s got three individual pockets or sections, two of which are clear. It’s black with white dots on it which I think is just so cute.

It cost $15 but it also has a little coat hanger type hook at the top so theoretically I can hang it from my wardrobe which will be super handy.

The next couple of things are also from ‘Big W’ and each cost $3. The one on the left is a ‘Hydrating Body Lotion’ in the ‘Vanilla coconut and spun sugar scent’. I really love this because it smells absolutely amazing! The one on the right is a ‘Skin Smoothie Shower Scrub’ in the ‘Marshmallow Spice’ scent. This one also smells really great and I’m really looking forward to using them soon!

The next thing I bought is an earcuff pack from ‘Factorie’ which cost just $1! It’d been marked down from $6.95 but it’s such good value. I’ve really wanted an earcuff for a long time and I’m so happy that I was able to pick this one up so cheap. Gotta love sales!

And last but certainly not least, I picked up a couple of tote bags from ‘Ghanda’. I only got two different patterns even though I loved all the patterns they had there. The first one is a tree with pastel coloured birds all in it. I really love this one because it’s just something I’ve never seen before.

The second one is an owl that goes from yellow to blue in colour. I also loved this one because of the pattern on the owl. Each of these were just $2 which is so good, especially for a brand like Ghanda.

Just off on a side note, I thought that at the end of each post I’d post a song that I’ve really been loving for you guys to check out. So, today’s song is ‘Come And Get It’ by Selena Gomez. I’ll leave a link to it on youtube down below.

And that’s all today guys! Thanks for reading and let me know what the best bargain you’ve ever found was! 🙂 x

My Top 5 Favourite Movies!

Today I felt like sharing some of my all time favourite movies with you guys! Let’s jump straight in shall we?

Number 5: The Fault In Our Stars.
This movie, oh gosh. I cried and cried and cried. I’ve read the book as well by John Green before I saw the movie and it was the best read I’d had in a while (and i read a lot). I won’t spoil it for those of you who haven’t seen it but it’s such a sad yet oddly uplifting movie. My parents swore never to watch it after seeing my mascara running down my face after coming out of the cinema but I’m determined to make them watch it because it is honestly my third favourite movie to be released this year. The story follows a teenage girl named Hazel who is a cancer patient as she meets a fellow cancer patient, Gus, and they fall in love. It’s such a beautiful story and something that I’d definitely recommend to anyone with feelings (hopefully that’s all of you? Haha). Definitely check this one out guys.

Number 4: Spirit.
This movie was made in 2002 and follows a wild young mustang (a horse) named Spirit as he fights for his homeland and his freedom against soldiers across the American Frontier. Again, this story is absolutely beautiful and full of fun, exciting twists. I’ve also fallen in love with the soundtrack that accompanies the movie. I watched this when i was younger and i even had it on VCR. Another great movie to check out.

Number 3: Divergent.
This is another book to movie film that i absolutely loved. Of course I’d read the books before seeing it in a cinema but it was so closely related to the book that it created that sense of realism that’s needed for the world to come to life. The story follows a teenage girl named Tris from the Abnegation faction who chooses to become an initiate in the Dauntless faction. It’s such an action packed movie but it also has that love story part to it which makes it appealing to most categories of people. It’s recently come out on DVD so go buy a copy and start watching!

Number 2: Tangled.
I love this movie! It’s a Disney version of Rapunzel and it’s just so cute. It follows Rapunzel on her journey to see the floating lanterns, with the help of Flynn Rider, that are released every year on her birthday by the king and queen in hopes that it will lead their lost daughter back to them (spoiler alert: that daughter is Rapunzel). It’s got dramatic bits, funny bits, songs and romantics bits. Frypans, who knew right?

Number 1: The Hunger Games trilogy.
Now I’ve put these together because they are my all time favourite movie series ever. I’ve read the book series 5 times now and I still can’t get enough of them. The movie adaptions are so amazingly creative and realistic it’s such a joy to watch. This story follows Katniss through 2 Hunger Games and the rebellion after her stunt in her first Hunger Games. It’s set in a futuristic dystopian society called Panem which is separated into 13 districts and the Capitol. These movies are just pure brilliance and I will never get sick of watching them. (And yes, i can quote The Hunger Games and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire very well). If you haven’t seen these movies yet, HAVE YOU BEEN LIVING UNDER A ROCK?! Definitely watch these or rewatch them if you’ve seen them before.

Okay that’s it for today guys, i hope you enjoyed my top 5 movies of all time! Let me know in the comments what your favourite movies are!

Thanks for reading! 🙂 x

How to deal with your BFF dating your EX-BF!

So your best friend is dating your ex and your ex, who doesn’t exactly like you at all, is dating your best friend. Uh-Oh. But don’t worry, there is a way to deal with this in a civil and mature way.

This situation popped up in my life a few months ago when my best friend realised she had feelings for my ex. Now, I definitely don’t see this as ‘breaking the girl code’ because she and my ex have been friends for a long time and they are really cute together (is that weird for me to think that? haha).

Anyway, my ex and i broke up march last year and to put it simply, it didn’t end with us shaking hands and walking away as unlikely friends. There was A LOT of hurt on both sides. After that, we’d had very little to do with each other until my best friend and I started hanging out more which resulted in seeing him more.

And, as you can imagine, things got a bit tense and my best friend ended up being caught in the middle of a silent war. Only recently I’ve discovered why he holds such a strong grudge against me and now, it’s just plain awkward. I couldn’t speak my mind around him because I was scared he would judge me or make fun of me behind my back (because THAT’S never happened before *cough cough*).

But, I realised, the only way to keep the peace and to make life a little easier on my best friend, my ex and myself was to shut up and suck it up. When you’re around them, don’t bring up anything that will cause tension or create drama. I tell myself that “Your best friend is going out with this guy, and they’re happy, so why jeopardise that for the sake of a good come back?”. Whatever you do, don’t try to avoid bumping into them when they’re together because then that’s going to make your friend feel like she has to pick sides and that’s going to stress her out.

Now obviously these kind of situation involve a horrendous amount of factors contributing to the issue at hand so this technique may or may not work for you, but hopefully you can alter it and twist it in a way that suits your needs.

It took me a long time to get over that break up and while this may take some sacrificing of my pride, it’s worth it to make it easier on my best friend because whatever went down between my ex and I is history and it should stay that way. Who knows, maybe one day we’ll even be able to hold a conversation as friends.

I hope this helps some of you who are having difficulty with this kind of problem! If you liked this post then click the follow button 🙂 x
