My Top 5 Fandoms!

If you don’t know what a fandom is, it’s defined by my good friend google as “the fans of a particular person, team, fictional series, etc. regarded collectively as a community or subculture.”

The fandoms that I’m associated with are from reading books and they are all fantastic book series.

1. The Hunger Games.
The Hunger Games has taken over my life in many, many aspects. I have posters and pictures plastered around my room and countless merch from Etsy and Wish. I’ve read the books 6 times now and I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve watched the movies. The story, for me, is so inspiring from a writer’s perspective but also as a teenager. The story follows Katniss Everdeen as she’s thrust into a fight to the death match called The Hunger Games. It’s an amazing story and the characters are developed so thoroughly that you feel a connection to each one. Katniss is also so relatable and not your average protagonist. The story progresses with a clear intention and there’s never a dull moment.

2. Divergent.
Ever since I read the Divergent series I fell in love with Four/Tobias and Tris/Beatrice. They’re both such strong, independent characters. Especially Tris, who, against all odds survives and thrives against her fears. I really enjoyed the movies as well as the books, although I didn’t much like the turn in the story line in Allegiant. But still, they’re very enjoyable books and very action packed.

3. The Mortal Instruments.
These books are packed from start to finish with a good hit to the feels. The Mortal Instruments world is so complex and intriguing that you can’t help but keep reading. Unfortunately the movie was a flop but it’s being revived with the tv show ‘Shadowhunters’ which should be good. Jace and Clary are my absolute favourite characters although Simon comes really close too. The story line has a clear path and the complexity and mystery to the books creates a real sense of realism. It’s not hard to imagine this world vividly.

4. The Fault In Our Stars.
Ugh. I read the book before the movie and the movie did not disappoint. Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort’s performances were nothing less than spectacular. When I went and saw the movie, I was seated in a cinema with weeping girls and guys for 2 hours. It’s such an emotional journey to experience this story but such an inspirational and amazing one. I love the movie so much. I also really loved how realistic and down to earth Hazel is despite everything she’s been through. Such an amazing story by John Green who I admire so much.

5. The Maze Runner.
These books are so brilliantly mysterious. I couldn’t stop reading when I’d started them and I love the plotline. It doesn’t hold back from the gruesome reality of a post apocalyptic world and even presents it in a way that draws in the readers. If you liked the first movie then you’ll love what’s to come in The Scorch Trials. Also Dylan O’Brien is absolutely beautiful.

So that’s it folks, my top 5 fandoms. If you haven’t read/watched any of these then pick one and go for it because I promise you’ll enjoy them!

Top 10 Funny Memes From Facebook!

I’m not going to lie, I spend a lot of time on my phone and, more specifically, Facebook. It’s probably not healthy but eh, it’s okay. So today I wanted to post the 10 best posts/pictures/memes that I’ve stumbled upon on my journey through the world of Facebook. (That sounds so much more exciting than it actually is.)

So here goes!

I found this one today and I laughed for a good few minutes before I could explain to my dad why I was laughing. I think he thought I’d lost it.

I thought this one was so cute and also slightly disturbing but hey, i giggled, so here it is.

This is something that I would buy. I feel bad for my kids, they’re going to suffer.

This post literally gave me abs from the amount of laughing that I did. I love these kind of things, they’re so hilarious.

I don’t know about anyone else but I LOVE PUNS. I have a habit of making really really bad ones that makes my family groan in shame and this post reminded me of the amount of horrible puns in that movie.

I love this one because I would totally be the wife in that situation.

Oh my goodness this post made me cry with laughter. Again, this is something that I would do. I can see it happen in my head.

I read John Green’s book Looking For Alaska about a month ago and it was a great book. I love how sarcastic the dad in this is. He reminds me of my dad.

As a girl, I love period jokes and metaphors. This was no exception.

And last but not least, this. This is something my friends and I would do if we were the type to get super drunk. Again, i laughed at this for a good few minutes before I could contain myself.

I hope you liked this post today and I hope it gave you a good laugh! If you want to see more head on over to my twitter @ElloFrancis97 to see when I post again.

Thank you! 🙂 x

My Top 5 Hobbies To Try This Year!

Hello again! I’ve just arrived home from a 10 day cruise and I’m really in the mood for blogging so here we go!

This post is a bit of a suggestion for different hobbies that you may (or may not) want to give a go. So let’s get started!

1. Creative Writing.
I personally love writing and I find that it can be quite therapeutic. As you probably know,  if you follow my blog, i love writing, but I don’t make enough time for myself to do it often. BUT, it’s something that you can pick up quite easily. Maybe try creating something totally strange and unique or you could try recapping an event or situation that you’ve faced yourself and put a fun or frightening twist to it. Just explore the possible stories and have some fun with it!

2. Knitting.
I know. But try not to knock it before you try it. It might surprise you, again, just how therapeutic it can be. I find that I lose myself in my thoughts when knitting and while I can only knit a scarf at the moment, I’m hoping to expand my knowledge soon. Find a cheap $3 yarn at a craft store and the appropriate sized knitting needles (this can be found on the packet of the yarn you buy) and look up on youtube how to do some basic stitches and go from there!

3. Running.
Recently I’ve become a little bit obsessed with running. As you may or may not know, i have a knee problem in which my right knee cap sits slightly out of place and causes all kinds of pain and discomfort. I started running while walking my dog one day and I found that I felt so much more energised afterwards. However, the downside being a nice little ache in my knee but to me it was worth it. I feel so free when I’m running and I’m not fit but I hope that I’ll gradually build up my fitness. Give running a go and see how you feel.

4. Reading.
If you don’t already read books, I’d suggest you get your bottom to a bookstore right now and buy some books. Reading doesn’t have to be boring. Try reading book series like The Hunger Games, Divergent, The Mortal Instruments, or something like The Maze Runner series to get you started. If you haven’t fallen in love with reading after finishing any of these series then it’s a pointer that maybe reading isn’t your thing. But hey, there are always audiobooks now eh?

5. Scrapbooking.
After reading this post you’ll probably think I have the mindset of a 70 year old. I work in a craft/fabric store so I’m constantly around these kinds of things. I found that I really loved scrapbooking and arranging photos and memories into a beautiful representation of an event. It’s so relaxing yet time consuming so there’s always something more to do in your scrapbook. Last year I made one for my parents who both turned 50 and gave it to them at a surprise party my brothers and I organised. They loved it. Give it a go and make some memories into a keepsake album.

There you go folks, if you’re ever beyond bored and the newest episode of Game of Thrones doesn’t air for another few days, try one of these out and see if any of them tickle your fancy.
