My Top 5 Hobbies To Try This Year!

Hello again! I’ve just arrived home from a 10 day cruise and I’m really in the mood for blogging so here we go!

This post is a bit of a suggestion for different hobbies that you may (or may not) want to give a go. So let’s get started!

1. Creative Writing.
I personally love writing and I find that it can be quite therapeutic. As you probably know,  if you follow my blog, i love writing, but I don’t make enough time for myself to do it often. BUT, it’s something that you can pick up quite easily. Maybe try creating something totally strange and unique or you could try recapping an event or situation that you’ve faced yourself and put a fun or frightening twist to it. Just explore the possible stories and have some fun with it!

2. Knitting.
I know. But try not to knock it before you try it. It might surprise you, again, just how therapeutic it can be. I find that I lose myself in my thoughts when knitting and while I can only knit a scarf at the moment, I’m hoping to expand my knowledge soon. Find a cheap $3 yarn at a craft store and the appropriate sized knitting needles (this can be found on the packet of the yarn you buy) and look up on youtube how to do some basic stitches and go from there!

3. Running.
Recently I’ve become a little bit obsessed with running. As you may or may not know, i have a knee problem in which my right knee cap sits slightly out of place and causes all kinds of pain and discomfort. I started running while walking my dog one day and I found that I felt so much more energised afterwards. However, the downside being a nice little ache in my knee but to me it was worth it. I feel so free when I’m running and I’m not fit but I hope that I’ll gradually build up my fitness. Give running a go and see how you feel.

4. Reading.
If you don’t already read books, I’d suggest you get your bottom to a bookstore right now and buy some books. Reading doesn’t have to be boring. Try reading book series like The Hunger Games, Divergent, The Mortal Instruments, or something like The Maze Runner series to get you started. If you haven’t fallen in love with reading after finishing any of these series then it’s a pointer that maybe reading isn’t your thing. But hey, there are always audiobooks now eh?

5. Scrapbooking.
After reading this post you’ll probably think I have the mindset of a 70 year old. I work in a craft/fabric store so I’m constantly around these kinds of things. I found that I really loved scrapbooking and arranging photos and memories into a beautiful representation of an event. It’s so relaxing yet time consuming so there’s always something more to do in your scrapbook. Last year I made one for my parents who both turned 50 and gave it to them at a surprise party my brothers and I organised. They loved it. Give it a go and make some memories into a keepsake album.

There you go folks, if you’re ever beyond bored and the newest episode of Game of Thrones doesn’t air for another few days, try one of these out and see if any of them tickle your fancy.
